Try to Breathe

Now while you cannot go into meditation mode during a heated argument, you still need a way to calm yourself down internally. You can easily do so by trying a breathing exercise. All you need to do is to take a few moments and focus your attention on the inhaling and exhaling of air, along with feeling the diaphragm rise and fall.

You will be surprised to know how this exercise can allow you to quickly calm down and regain control of yourself.

Look After Your Wellbeing

The thing about heated arguments is that these can take a serious toll on one’s life, which is why it is crucial to look after oneself. The best way to do so is by going for a walk. Arguments and fights can induce a flight and fight response in the body, which is why going for a walk can be helpful in calming down the mind and body.

Here is what walking does to the body – while you go on a walk, the brain starts to induce the good feeling chemicals which help you relieve stress from the mind and body. So, the next time you find yourself in a difficult situation where you might get into a serious argument, all you need to do is to excuse yourself, get your shoes on, grab your headphones, and listen to some music while you walk off the stress.
